this chest protector is a little overpriced but when i got it, i would price it at at least $20 more than they do. It is way better than the stealth speed which my friend got. It is the lightest high end chest protector i have ever got, and i feel almost no impact blocking a 80-90 mph baseball. Best chest protector on the market. Buy it

Youth Model - Fit

My 9 yr old son was given one of these by his coach. It is a nice product and dampens impact very well. However the fit on the youth model is not good. The shoulder strap cannot be shortened enough to allow the padding to properly cover the collar bone or the neck area even with the adjustable Velcro neck pad. He is 4'-10" tall and 90 lbs. This strap design should be re-thought for the youth models.

Although maybe slightly overpriced, this gear is THE best on the market, do not buy the Stealth Speed as this gear is better at absorbing the ball on stops. Very comfortable, and you forget that you are wearing it as the game goes on, the stripes are not white, but rather a silver. Very light, and cannot wait to use this in a few weeks at my first game. I had a pair of Natural Gear by Easton before, and this surpasses that gear by far. My freind ordered the Speed Stealth gear and we found that the Surge gear, is not only lighter, but also absorbs ball impacts better. If you are buying this for your kid or little leaguer, i would reccomend the natural as it feels good taking balls up to 60mph, however this gear feels good taking hits up to 100mph (tested in cage). Would reccomend this to the competitive catcher catching balls over 80mph.

This chest protector looks like it has WHITE as the off-set color. It is actually gray. Not good if your team colors do not have gray in it.
