
In his 10th year in charge of the Georgia Southern baseball program, head coach Rodney Hennon carries on the winning tradition that the Eagles have become known for:
Since taking over the storied program, Hennon has accumulated a 328-216 record, including an impressive 165-93 record in Southern Conference play. Hennon enters the 2009 season ranked among the ‘Top 40’ nationally in winning percentage among active NCAA Division I coaches (.617).
During his nine year tenure, Hennon guided the Eagles to at least a fourth-place finish in the Southern Conference regular season eight times, advanced to the NCAA Regionals three consecutive years, won the Southern Conference Tournament title twice and been runner-up twice. 18 Eagles during Coach Hennon’s tenure have gone on to sign a MLB contract.
In 11 seasons as a collegiate head coach, Hennon reached yet another milestone victory last year, win #400 (12-6 at Wofford). He owns a 409-254-1 record – an average of 37 wins per year.
When he accepted the GSU position, Hennon ended a successful two-year stay as head coach at Western Carolina University after leading the Catamounts to an 81-38-1 (.679) overall record and a Southern Conference mark of 38-16 (.704). Prior to taking over the WCU head coaching duties, Hennon served as a full-time assistant coach for his alma mater for three seasons and was a two-time All-SoCon second baseman for the Catamounts in the early 1990s.
