The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are the athletic teams that represent Coastal Carolina University. They participate in Division I of the NCAA and are a charter member of the Big South Conference.

Coastal Carolina’s baseball program has been the university’s most consistent program in terms of success. Head Coach Gary Gilmore has led the Chanticleers to seven NCAA Regional appearances and one Super Regional appearance since being hired in 1996. They are an 11 time Big South Champion with seven NCAA Regional appearances in the last eight years. The program has received #1 regional seeds on three occasions (2005, 2007, 2008) and has won 50+ games in three of the last four seasons (2005, 2007, 2008). In addition, the Chanticleers have hosted NCAA Regionals in both 2007 and 2008. Over the years, Coastal Carolina has produced numerous Pro draft picks including 15 former pro baseball players at the end of 2008.

Coastal’s primary Big South Conference baseball rivals are Winthrop University and Liberty University.
