The LSU baseball team represents Louisiana State University in NCAA Division I college baseball and are the 2009 College World Series Champions!
Along with the other LSU athletic teams, the baseball team participates in the West division of the Southeastern Conference. Tiger baseball dates back to 1895 and since 1986, LSU Baseball has been considered an elite program in college baseball, winning 6 national championships (1991, 1993, 1996, 1997, 2000 and 2009) and making 15 College World Series appearances.
LSU continued their dominance this season by defeating Texas in the College World Series to win their sixth National Championship.
The Tigers play their home games on LSU’s campus in Alex Box Stadium, and are currently coached by head coach Paul Mainieri. LSU just built a new baseball stadium opened at the beginning of the 2009 season.
