The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Cornhuskers baseball team is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the Big 12 Conference, and is currently coached by Mike Anderson. The program started in 1889.

The Huskers have been to twelve NCAA baseball regionals (1979, 1980, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008). Nebraska has been to four super regionals (2000, 2001, 2002, and 2005) and three College World Series (2001, 2002, and 2005). They have also had seventeen 40 win seasons with 8 of them coming in the past 10 seasons.

Nebraska’s all-time record is 1,873-1,352-17 (.580). From 1979-2008, the Huskers constructed a 1,236-661-2 record (.651). Their all-time conference record is 715-684-1 (.511) and 188-113-1 (.624) in the Big 12 Era.

The Cornhuskers play at Hawks Field, named for one of the primary donor families that contributed to the construction of the baseball stadium and Haymarket Park is named because of its location in Lincoln’s historic Haymarket District. The Cornhuskers have played at Hawks Field since March 5, 2002.

Hawks Field is arguably the finest ballpark in college baseball. Its capacity is 8,500 with 4,500 seats and berms in the outfield. It was selected as the best playing surface in each of its six years of existence. In November 2007, Hawks Field won the Baseball Field of the Year Award in the College/University division by the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) for the second time.

Nebraska competes in an in-state rivalry with the Creighton Bluejays of Omaha, Nebraska. Creighton’s home field is the Creighton University Sports Complex, although they occasionally play home games at Rosenblatt Stadium. The Huskers and Bluejays play a 3-game series each year, switching venues for each game.
